Anthropic Restores Claude Fable 5

Anthropic has announced that it will begin restoring access to Claude Fable 5 starting July 1, 2026.

On June 12, shortly after the launch of Fable 5, access to the model was suspended following new U.S. export control requirements. Over the past several weeks, Anthropic worked closely with the U.S. government to meet the new requirements and strengthen the model's safety protections.

As part of this effort, the company introduced a new jailbreak classifier designed to detect attempts to bypass the model's safety mechanisms. Anthropic also emphasized its defense-in-depth approach, where multiple layers of safeguards remain in place even if one protection mechanism is successfully bypassed.

Claude Mythos 5, meanwhile, remains available only to a limited set of organizations participating in the Glasswing program. Anthropic says it plans to expand access gradually and in coordination with the U.S. government.
