After updated projections from Google about the approaching Q-Day, Cloudflare has also announced plans to protect its infrastructure against quantum threats.
Cloudflare published a post-quantum cryptography roadmap in which new algorithms are going to be introduced gradually, starting with the most critical components, primarily key exchange in TLS. The company is adopting a hybrid approach, where classical cryptography operates alongside post-quantum methods. This ensures compatibility with existing systems while adding protection against future quantum attacks.
The company views the migration as a long-term process that will extend beyond HTTPS to the entire network infrastructure, from client connections to corporate networks and Zero Trust access. The transition is structured in phases: first securing key exchange, followed by signatures and more complex elements of the cryptographic stack.
