IPv8 protocol draft unveiled

In the IPv8 protocol draft it's stated that the proposal aims to address IPv4 address exhaustion and enhance network security.
📌Key features of the new protocol include:
🟠use of an ASN prefix — each ASN holder receives 4 billion addresses;
🟠IPv8 requires no changes to existing infrastructure or applications. Unlike IPv6, there's no need for a "Flag Day" or dual‑stack deployment;
🟠address translation between IPv8 and IPv4 is handled by the XLATE8 gateway. Existing IPv4 addresses receive a zero prefix;
🟠introduction of the Zone Server concept, which consolidates telemetry, authentication, name resolution (DNS8), time synchronization, and access control;
🟠a single DHCP8 request returns all required node information (IP, DNS, NTP, etc.);
🟠each network element is authorized via OAuth2 JWT tokens stored in the Zone Server's local cache;
🟠anti‑spoofing through Egress Validation, where every packet is checked against DNS8 and WHOIS8 records.
This Internet draft was authored by Jamie Thain of One Limited and is currently under discussion.
