Bzip2 · Lib64Bz2-Dev · CVE-2010-0405
**Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions**
bzip2 versions prior to 1.0.6
lib64bz2-dev (affected versions not specified)
lib32bz2-1.0 (affected versions not specified)
lib64bz2-1.0 (affected versions not specified)
lib32bz2-dev (affected versions not specified)
**Description**
The issue is related to multiple vulnerabilities in the bzip2 package, which can lead to a disruption of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information. These vulnerabilities can be exploited remotely. Specifically, an integer overflow in the BZ2 decompress function in decompress.c in bzip2 and libbzip2 before 1.0.6 allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted compressed file.
**Recommendations**
For bzip2 versions prior to 1.0.6, update to version 1.0.6 or later to resolve the issue.
For lib64bz2-dev, lib32bz2-1.0, lib64bz2-1.0, and lib32bz2-dev, at the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
