Description
The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code, primarily via buffer overflows or improper NULL termination. Exploitation of this issue may lead to a violation of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information. The exploitation can be carried out remotely.
Recommendations
For xinetd versions 2.3.0 and earlier, update to a version later than 2.3.3 to resolve the issue.
For xinetd versions until 2.3.3, update to a version later than 2.3.3 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the xinetd service until a patch is available.
