Description The issue allows local users to read and modify arbitrary files by exploiting a weakness in the registrar component of the HP resource monitor service. This is achieved by renaming the original registrar.log log file and creating a symbolic link to the target file. The registrar then appends log information to this linked file and sets its permissions to be world-readable.
