CVE-2004-2760

CVSS v2.0

6.8

Média

VetorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions OpenSSH version 3.5p1
Description The issue allows remote attackers to guess the password more easily by observing the connection state. When PermitRootLogin is disabled, sshd in OpenSSH immediately closes the TCP connection after a root login attempt with the correct password, but leaves the connection open after an attempt with an incorrect password.
Recommendations For OpenSSH version 3.5p1, consider updating to a newer version that addresses this issue, as the current behavior can facilitate password guessing attacks. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting root login attempts or implementing additional authentication measures to minimize the risk of exploitation.
