CVE-2005-3321
CVSS v2.0
4.6
Média
| Vetor | AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
SuSE Linux versions 9.0 through 10.0
Description
The issue allows local users to modify permissions of files by creating a hardlink to a file from a world-writable directory. This can cause the link count to drop to 1 when the file is deleted or replaced, and then the permissions are modified to use weaker settings.
Recommendations
For SuSE Linux versions 9.0 through 10.0, consider restricting access to world-writable directories to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, monitor file permissions closely and adjust them manually if necessary until a more permanent solution is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this issue.
