Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions imlib2 versions prior to 1.4.2
Description The issue allows attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted XPM file. This can trigger a "pointer arithmetic error" and a heap-based buffer overflow. The vulnerability can be exploited remotely and may lead to a violation of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information.
Recommendations For versions prior to 1.4.2, update to version 1.4.2 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the load function in the XPM loader to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the XPM loader with untrusted files until the issue is resolved.
