Description The issue allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on the /tmp/spell-check-debug.log, /tmp/spell-check-before, or /tmp/spell-check-after temporary file. This is possible due to a flaw in the spell-check-logic.cgi component.

Recommendations For Moodle versions 1.6 through 1.6.8, update to version 1.6.9 or later. For Moodle versions 1.7 through 1.7.6, update to version 1.7.7 or later. For Moodle versions 1.8 through 1.8.7, update to version 1.8.8 or later. For Moodle versions 1.9 through 1.9.3, update to version 1.9.4 or later.
