CVE-2009-2515

CVSS v2.0

7.2

Alta

VetorAV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Microsoft Windows versions prior to the fixed version
Description The issue is caused by an integer underflow in the kernel, allowing local users to gain privileges via a crafted application. This occurs due to the incorrect truncation of a 64-bit integer to a 32-bit integer. An attacker who successfully exploits this issue could run arbitrary code in kernel mode, enabling them to install programs, view, change, or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights.
Recommendations For Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP2 and SP3, Server 2003 SP2, Vista Gold, SP1, and SP2, and Server 2008 Gold and SP2, update to a version that includes the fix for the integer underflow issue. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
