Description The issue arises from the cupsDoAuthentication function in auth.c, which does not properly handle authorization demands when HAVE GSSAPI is omitted. This allows remote CUPS servers to cause a denial of service by triggering an infinite loop via HTTP UNAUTHORIZED responses.

Recommendations For versions prior to 1.4.4, update to version 1.4.4 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the cupsDoAuthentication function until a patch is available.
