CVSS v2.0

Alta

VetorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Active Directory versions prior to the fixed version Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM) versions prior to the fixed version Active Directory Lightweight Directory Service (AD LDS) versions prior to the fixed version Microsoft Windows XP versions SP2 and SP3 Microsoft Windows Server 2003 version SP2 Microsoft Windows Vista version SP2 Microsoft Windows Server 2008 versions SP2, R2, and R2 SP1 Microsoft Windows 7 versions Gold and SP1
Description The issue concerns the LDAP over SSL implementation, which fails to examine Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs). This allows remote authenticated users to bypass intended certificate restrictions and access Active Directory resources by using a revoked X.509 certificate for a domain account.
Recommendations For Microsoft Windows XP versions SP2 and SP3, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue. For Microsoft Windows Server 2003 version SP2, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue. For Microsoft Windows Vista version SP2, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue. For Microsoft Windows Server 2008 versions SP2, R2, and R2 SP1, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue. For Microsoft Windows 7 versions Gold and SP1, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the use of revoked X.509 certificates for domain accounts until a patch is available.
