CVE-2013-3234
CVSS v2.0
7.2
Alta
| Vetor | AV:L/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 3.9-rc7
Description
The issue allows local users to obtain sensitive information from kernel stack memory. This is due to the rose recvmsg function in net/rose/af rose.c not initializing a certain data structure, which can be exploited via crafted recvmsg or recvfrom system calls. Multiple vulnerabilities in the Linux package of the Debian GNU/Linux operating system can lead to breaches of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information, potentially exploitable by local attackers.
Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 3.9-rc7, update to version 3.9-rc7 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the rose recvmsg function until a patch is available.
