CVE-2014-4062
CVSS v2.0
4.3
Média
| Vetor | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:N/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Microsoft .NET Framework versions 1.1 SP1 through 3.5.1
Description
The issue exists in the Microsoft .NET Framework, allowing attackers to bypass the Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) protection mechanism. This bypass, by itself, does not enable arbitrary code execution but can be used in conjunction with other vulnerabilities, such as remote code execution vulnerabilities, to execute arbitrary code. The ASLR mechanism is a security feature designed to protect users from a wide range of vulnerabilities by randomizing the location of executable code in memory.
Recommendations
For Microsoft .NET Framework versions 1.1 SP1 through 3.5.1, consider applying configuration changes to enhance security until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to sensitive areas of the application that could potentially be exploited in conjunction with this ASLR bypass vulnerability. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
