Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions International Components for Unicode (ICU) versions prior to 55.1
Description The issue is related to errors in number processing in the resolveImplicitLevels function, part of the Unicode Bidirectional Algorithm implementation in the International Components for Unicode library. This can be exploited by a remote attacker using specially crafted text to cause a denial of service or possibly execute arbitrary code.
Recommendations For versions prior to 55.1, update to version 55.1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the resolveImplicitLevels function in the common/ubidi.c file until a patch is available.
