| Vetor | AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:L |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
OpenSSH versions through 6.4
Description
The issue is related to the hash buffer function in schnorr.c, which does not initialize certain data structures when the J-PAKE protocol is enabled. This could allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service, potentially leading to memory corruption, or have unspecified other impact via vectors that trigger an error condition.
Recommendations
For OpenSSH versions through 6.4, consider disabling the J-PAKE protocol as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the hash buffer function in schnorr.c to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the J-PAKE protocol in OpenSSH until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
