Description The issue is related to a memory leak in the Cisco IOS Software implementation of the multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) feature when processing malformed mDNS packets. This could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition, resulting in memory consumption, interface queue wedge, or device reload.

Recommendations For Cisco IOS versions 15.0 through 15.4, update to a version that includes the fix for the mDNS Gateway Memory Leak Vulnerability. For Cisco IOS XE versions 3.3.xSE through 3.3.1SE, update to version 3.3.2SE or later. For Cisco IOS XE versions 3.3.xXO through 3.3.0XO, update to version 3.3.1XO or later.
