CVE-2014-3646

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Média

VetorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions through 3.17.2
Description The issue is related to the KVM subsystem in the Linux kernel, specifically in the arch/x86/kvm/vmx.c file. It does not have an exit handler for the INVVPID instruction, which allows guest OS users to cause a denial of service (guest OS crash) via a crafted application. A local unprivileged guest user could use this flaw to crash the guest.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions through 3.17.2, update to a version that includes the fix for the missing exit handler for the INVVPID instruction. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
