CVE-2014-9066

CVSS v2.0

4.7

Média

VetorAV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Xen versions 4.4.x and earlier
Description The issue arises when using a large number of VCPUs, as Xen does not properly handle read and write locks. This allows local x86 guest users to cause a denial of service, resulting in a write denial or NMI watchdog timeout and host crash, by sending a large number of read requests.
Recommendations For Xen versions 4.4.x and earlier, consider restricting the number of VCPUs used to minimize the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, limiting the number of read requests from local x86 guest users may help prevent the denial of service. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
