Description A security feature bypass issue exists in the Cryptography Next Generation (CNG) kernel-mode driver. The CryptProtectMemory function does not check an impersonation token's level when the CRYPTPROTECTMEMORY SAME LOGON option is used. This allows local users to bypass intended decryption restrictions by leveraging a service that has a named-pipe planting vulnerability or uses world-readable shared memory for encrypted data. An attacker could exploit this issue by convincing a user to run a specially crafted application, potentially allowing the attacker to gain access to information beyond the access level of the local user.
