Description The issue is related to the dissector-table implementation in Wireshark, which mishandles table searches for empty strings. This allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in the application crashing, via a crafted packet. The problem is related to the dissector get string handle and dissector get default string handle functions.

Recommendations For Wireshark versions 1.12.x through 1.12.6, update to version 1.12.7 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the dissector-table implementation until a patch is available.
