Description The issue is caused by a buffer overflow in the DirectShow component of the Windows operating system. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted file. An attacker who successfully exploits this issue could cause arbitrary code to execute in the context of the current user. If a user is logged on with administrative user rights, an attacker could take complete control of the affected system, allowing them to install programs, view, change, or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights. For an attack to be successful, this issue requires that a user open a specially crafted file.
