Description The issue is related to the cgroup offline implementation in the Linux kernel, which mishandles certain drain operations. This allows local users to cause a denial of service, resulting in a system hang, by executing a crafted application within a container environment. An example of such an application is trinity.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.8.12, update to version 4.8.12 or later to resolve the issue.
