CVE-2017-7187

CVSS v3.1

7.8

Alta

VetorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions through 4.10.4
Description The issue is related to the sg ioctl function in the Linux kernel, which allows local users to cause a denial of service or possibly have other impacts via a large command size in an SG NEXT CMD LEN ioctl call. This leads to out-of-bounds write access in the sg write function, caused by a stack-based buffer overflow.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions through 4.10.4, update to a version later than 4.10.4 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the sg ioctl function to minimize the risk of exploitation.
