CVE-2017-8924

CVSS v3.1

4.6

Média

VetorAV:P/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 4.10.4
Description The issue allows local users to obtain sensitive information from uninitialized kernel memory. This is achieved by using a crafted USB device, posing as an io ti USB serial device, to trigger an integer underflow in the edge bulk in callback function. The sensitive information can be found in the dmesg ringbuffer and syslog.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.10.4, update to version 4.10.4 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the edge bulk in callback function in the drivers/usb/serial/io ti.c file until a patch is available. Avoid using crafted USB devices that could trigger the integer underflow.
