CVE-2017-11822

CVSS v2.0

7.6

Alta

VetorAV:N/AC:H/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Internet Explorer in Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1, Windows Server 2012 and R2, Windows 10 Gold, 1511, 1607, 1703, and Windows Server 2016
Description The issue is related to how Internet Explorer handles objects in memory, allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current user. This can be achieved through a specially crafted website. If the current user has administrative user rights, the attacker could take control of the affected system, enabling them to install programs, view, change, or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights.
Recommendations For Internet Explorer in Microsoft Windows 7 SP1, Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1, Windows Server 2012 and R2, Windows 10 Gold, 1511, 1607, 1703, and Windows Server 2016, consider restricting access to potentially vulnerable websites until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling JavaScript in Internet Explorer to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
