| Vetor | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
SDL versions 2.0.5
Description
The issue is related to an integer overflow when creating a new RGB surface, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to access confidential data, compromise its integrity, and cause a denial of service using a specially crafted image file. A specially crafted file can cause an integer overflow, resulting in too little memory being allocated, leading to a buffer overflow and potential code execution.
Recommendations
For SDL version 2.0.5, consider disabling the creation of new RGB surfaces until a patch is available. Restrict access to image files to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using specially crafted image files that can trigger the integer overflow vulnerability. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
