CVSS v3.1

7.5

Alta

VetorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Node.js versions 6.x through 9.x
Description The issue arises when calling Buffer.fill() or Buffer.alloc() with certain parameters, leading to a hang and potentially resulting in a Denial of Service. The implementations of Buffer.alloc() and Buffer.fill() were updated to zero fill instead of hanging in these cases.
Recommendations For Node.js versions 6.x through 9.x, update the implementations of Buffer.alloc() and Buffer.fill() to zero fill instead of hanging in these cases. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability, but it is known that all versions of Node.js 10.x are not vulnerable.
