Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Google Chrome versions prior to 71.0.3578.80
Description
The issue is related to the execution of user-supplied Javascript during array deserialization, leading to an out of bounds write in V8. This allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code inside a sandbox via a crafted HTML page. The vulnerability is associated with a buffer overflow in memory, which can be exploited to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service.
Recommendations
For Google Chrome versions prior to 71.0.3578.80, update to version 71.0.3578.80 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of Javascript in V8 to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using crafted HTML pages that could trigger the out of bounds write in V8.
