Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue is related to a memory leak in the Linux kernel's implementation of the alsa seq dummy init handler for the sound/core/seq/snd-seq-dummy.ko module. An attacker can exploit this to cause a denial of service by connecting an ALSA sequencer MIDI-through device. This is due to the register client function in sound/core/seq/seq dummy.c, called from alsa seq dummy init, allocating memory for rec1 using create port, but this memory is not stored or freed later.
Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
