CVE-2016-10640

CVSS v2.0

9.3

Alta

VetorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions node-thulac versions (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue allows for a man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack due to the insecure download of binary resources over HTTP. This could potentially lead to remote code execution (RCE) if an attacker intercepts the download and replaces the binary with a malicious one. The attack is feasible if the attacker has a privileged network position, enabling them to intercept and alter the response. This could result in code execution on the system running the affected software.
Recommendations For all affected versions of node-thulac, consider avoiding the use of this package and opt for a different package if available. As a mitigation measure, reduce the risk of exploitation by avoiding the installation of this package while connected to a public network. If the package must be installed, ensure it is done on a private network to minimize exposure.
