CVE-2016-10681

CVSS v2.0

9.3

Alta

VetorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions roslib-socketio versions (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue concerns the insecure download of binary resources over HTTP, making it susceptible to man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks. This could potentially lead to remote code execution (RCE) if an attacker intercepts and alters the downloaded resources. The vulnerability can be exploited when an attacker has a privileged network position, allowing them to replace the executable with a malicious one, resulting in code execution on the system running roslib-socketio.
Recommendations To mitigate this issue, consider avoiding the use of this package until a patch is available. Alternatively, reduce the risk of exploitation by ensuring the package is not installed while connected to a public network, thus limiting potential attackers to those with compromised network access or privileged ISP access.
