CVE-2019-16746
CVSS v2.0
10
Crítica
| Vetor | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Linux kernel versions through 5.2.17
Description:
The issue is related to a buffer overflow in the Linux kernel, specifically in the net/wireless/nl80211.c component. It occurs due to the lack of length checking for variable elements in a beacon head. This could potentially allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. Additionally, there is a possible out of bounds read due to a missing bounds check during the initial processing of a beacon packet, which could lead to local information disclosure without requiring additional execution privileges.
Recommendations:
For Linux kernel versions through 5.2.17, update to a version newer than 5.2.17 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the net/wireless/nl80211.c component to minimize the risk of exploitation.
