Description
The issue is related to insufficient access control in the Oracle Email Center component, specifically the Message Display subcomponent. It allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Email Center, requiring human interaction from a person other than the attacker. Successful attacks can result in unauthorized update, insert, or delete access to some of Oracle Email Center's accessible data, potentially impacting additional products.
Recommendations
For versions 12.1.1, 12.1.2, 12.1.3, update to a version that includes the necessary security patches.
For versions 12.2.3, 12.2.4, 12.2.5, 12.2.6, 12.2.7, 12.2.8, apply the recommended security fixes to mitigate the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the Message Display subcomponent until a patch is available.
Restrict HTTP access to the Oracle Email Center component to minimize the risk of exploitation.
