Description
The issue is related to improper access control in the MySQL Server component, specifically in the Security: Privileges subcomponent. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service, resulting in the ability to hang or crash the MySQL Server. The vulnerability can be exploited via multiple protocols and requires high privileges.
Recommendations
For MySQL Server version 5.6.43 and prior, update to a version later than 5.6.43 to resolve the issue.
For MySQL Server version 5.7.25 and prior, update to a version later than 5.7.25 to resolve the issue.
For MySQL Server version 8.0.15 and prior, update to a version later than 8.0.15 to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting network access to the MySQL Server to minimize the risk of exploitation.
