Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Cisco Nexus 9000 Series Fabric Switches in Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) Mode (affected versions not specified)
Description
A vulnerability in the Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) feature could allow an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to cause a memory leak, resulting in an unexpected reload of the device. This is due to incorrect error checking when parsing ingress LLDP packets. An attacker could exploit this by sending crafted LLDP packets to an affected device, potentially causing a denial of service (DoS) condition. The attack can only be performed by an attacker in the same broadcast domain as the affected device (Layer 2 adjacent) and cannot be exploited by transit traffic through the device.
Recommendations
To reduce the attack surface, consider disabling LLDP on interfaces where it is not required.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
