Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The Linux kernel contains a flaw related to writing to a read-only memory region within the cpufreq subsystem, specifically in Qualcomm (qcom) drivers. This issue causes a kernel oops due to an attempt to modify data located in read-only memory when using the
snprintf function to override values in a read-only string template. The root cause is a pointer (pvs name) pointing to a character buffer stored in read-only memory. The fix involves allocating a buffer on the stack (pvs name buffer) to store the template and assigning the pointer to this stack-allocated buffer instead.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
