VetorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description The Linux kernel contains a use-after-free vulnerability within the nilfs2 filesystem. The issue occurs during the unmount process, specifically when inodes are released and the nilfs root structure is accessed after being freed. This can happen when mark inode dirty sync() is called from iput() after commit 0ae45f63d4ef, which introduced a change in how iput() handles dirty inodes. The vulnerability is triggered when the nilfs load inode block() function attempts to access the freed nilfs root structure. A fix involves adding a "purging flag" to the nilfs structure to prevent operations on the freed memory.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
