Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The Linux kernel contains a flaw within the SMB client implementation. Specifically, the
smbd destroy() function may attempt to access memory after it has been freed, potentially leading to system instability. This issue occurs because the post send credits work function may still be pending after memory destruction. The problem was observed during testing with rxe, and involves a race condition where rxe post recv is called after rdma destroy qp(). The put receive buffer() function, triggered by ib drain qp(), contributes to this issue by queuing work to info->post send credits work.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
