Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description
The Linux kernel contains a flaw related to disconnected dentries during unmount operations. Specifically, when a user calls
open by handle at() on an inode not cached, a disconnected dentry may be created. If this dentry is a directory, attempts to reconnect it to the dentry tree can lead to the creation of a new dentry under the parent, which is not marked as disconnected. This inconsistency can cause memory leaks and potentially lead to the "Busy inodes after unmount" bug. The issue arises from changes made in a prior commit that altered the cleanup process for disconnected dentries.Recommendations
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
