Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel (affected versions not specified)
Description A flaw exists in the Linux kernel related to block management queues (blk-mq). Specifically, a tag leak can occur when the number of hardware queues is reduced. The issue arises because tags are allocated but not always freed when the number of hardware queues shrinks, leading to a memory leak. The reproduction steps involve mounting a configfs filesystem, loading a null block device module, creating and manipulating directories within the filesystem, and then removing a directory. This process allocates tags, reduces the number of hardware queues, and ultimately results in some tags not being freed.
Recommendations At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
