Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 6.12.0
Description
A slab-use-after-free read issue has been identified in the Linux kernel's Bluetooth management functionality, specifically in the
mgmt remove adv monitor sync function. This issue can cause a system crash. The problem arises from the incorrect handling of memory allocation and deallocation in the mgmt pending new and mgmt pending foreach functions.Recommendations
To resolve this issue, update the Linux kernel to a version that includes the fix for the slab-use-after-free read issue in the Bluetooth management functionality. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling Bluetooth functionality until a patch is available. Restrict access to the vulnerable
mgmt remove adv monitor sync function to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the hci cmd sync work function in the affected API endpoint until the issue is resolved.Exploit
