Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Newscrunch theme for WordPress versions up to and including 1.8.4
Description The issue is related to Cross-Site Request Forgery due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the newscrunch install and activate plugin() function. This allows unauthenticated attackers to upload arbitrary files via a forged request if they can trick a site administrator into performing a specific action, such as clicking on a link.
Recommendations For versions up to and including 1.8.4, consider disabling the newscrunch install and activate plugin() function until a patch is available to prevent exploitation. Restrict access to file upload functionality to minimize the risk of arbitrary file uploads.
