Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Newscrunch theme for WordPress versions up to, and including, 1.8.4.1
Description The issue is related to a missing capability check in the newscrunch install and activate plugin() function, allowing authenticated attackers with Subscriber-level access and above to upload arbitrary files on the affected site's server. This could potentially lead to remote code execution.
Recommendations For versions up to, and including, 1.8.4.1, consider disabling the newscrunch install and activate plugin() function until a patch is available to prevent arbitrary file uploads. Restrict access to file upload functionality to minimize the risk of exploitation.
