Microsoft · Windows 2000 · CVE-2003-0507
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Windows 2000 versions prior to SP4
Description:
The issue is related to a stack-based buffer overflow in Active Directory, allowing remote attackers to cause a denial of service, potentially leading to a system reboot, and possibly execute arbitrary code. This can be achieved by sending an LDAP version 3 search request with a large number of specific statements, such as `AND` and `OR`, which causes the LSASS.EXE process to crash.
Recommendations:
For Windows 2000 versions prior to SP4, apply Service Pack 4 to resolve the issue.
