**Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions** Microsoft Windows versions prior to the fixed version **Description** The issue arises from the improper validation of input received from user mode by the graphics device interface (GDI) implementation in the kernel. This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted image files, such as Windows Metafile (WMF) or Enhanced Metafile (EMF) files. An attacker who successfully exploits this issue could run arbitrary code in kernel mode, enabling them to install programs, view, change, or delete data, or create new accounts with full user rights. **Recommendations** For Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP2 and SP3, Server 2003 SP1 and SP2, Vista Gold and SP1, and Server 2008, update to a version that includes the fix for the Windows Kernel Input Validation issue. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
