Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Apple iPhone OS versions 1.0 through 2.2.1 iPhone OS for iPod touch versions 1.1 through 2.2.1 Description: The issue allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service, resulting in a device reset, via a crafted ICMP echo request. This is triggered by an assertion error related to a logic issue in the Telephony component. Recommendations: For Apple iPhone OS versions 1.0 through 2.2.1, update to a version outside of this range to resolve the issue. For iPhone OS for iPod touch versions 1.1 through 2.2.1, update to a version outside of this range to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the device's network to minimize the risk of exploitation.
