Opensc · Opensc · CVE-2024-45617
**Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions**
OpenSC (affected versions not specified)
OpenSC tools (affected versions not specified)
PKCS#11 module (affected versions not specified)
minidriver (affected versions not specified)
CTK (affected versions not specified)
**Description**
An issue exists in the `pkcs15-init` personalization utility and the `libopensc` library where insufficient or missing checks of function return values lead to the use of uninitialized variables. An attacker can exploit this by using a specially crafted USB device or smart card to provide a manipulated response to APDUs (Application Protocol Data Units). When buffers are partially filled with data, the system may incorrectly access uninitialized parts of the buffer, potentially impacting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information.
**Recommendations**
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
