Linux · Linux Kernel · CVE-2015-8845
**Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions**
Linux kernel versions prior to 4.4.1 on powerpc platforms
**Description**
The issue allows local users to cause a denial of service, resulting in a TM Bad Thing exception and panic, via a crafted application. This is due to the tm reclaim thread function in arch/powerpc/kernel/process.c not ensuring that TM suspend mode exists before proceeding with a tm reclaim call.
**Recommendations**
For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.4.1 on powerpc platforms, update to version 4.4.1 or later to resolve the issue.
